Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Instruct Fundamentals of Chemistry. This course consists of 3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab work per week. Instructors prepare their own labs and are expected to be accessible to students. This is a face to face position, with instructors expected to teach at either the Dowagiac or Niles campuses, during the day or in the evening, depending on college needs. This position will begin in the Fall 2026. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Science Education, or related field with chemistry coursework or related experience Excellent organization and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree or higher in subject matter with previous teaching experience or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the duties of this position Community College teaching experienceOther Information Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach courses consisting of 3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab work per week Prepare labs and maintain a safe lab environment Be accessible to students Grade assignments and respond to student inquiries Provide timely feedback to students' questions and concerns Use Moodle (our LMS platform) regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades. Proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email. Familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines and policies of the College Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment. Work comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students. Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. 2. The physical requirements of this position. Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. 4. The conditions the employee will be subject to in this position. The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
