We are seeking an innovative, high-energy High School Science & PLTW Teacher (Biology) to join our "New Chapter." In this dual-impact role, you will teach foundational biology courses while also inspiring the next generation of medical professionals, research scientists, and innovators through the specialized PLTW Biomedical Science curriculum. You aren't just teaching students from a textbook; you are guiding them through DNA analysis, clinical solutions, and public health simulations. Role Summary The High School Science & PLTW Teacher (Biology) is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned science instruction alongside specialized Project Lead The Way courses (such as Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, or Medical Interventions). Reporting to the Building Principal, you will facilitate a student-centered, laboratory-based classroom environment that emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and the scientific method. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications)
Certified Professional:
Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in 9-12 Biology required.
PLTW Credentialed:
Successful completion of Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Core Training in the Biomedical Science pathway, or an immediate willingness to attend and complete summer certification training.
The Innovative Instructor:
Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience preferred, with a track record of implementing project-based and laboratory-centered learning.
Educationally Prepared:
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Science Education, or a related STEM field required.
Data-Driven Educator:
Proven ability to analyze student data to differentiate instruction, providing both intervention and acceleration as needed.
Lab Savvy:
Comfort with modern instructional and laboratory technology, including gel electrophoresis equipment, data logging sensors, and digital learning platforms. Your Impact (Key Duties)
Instructional Fusion:
Design and execute engaging biology and PLTW lessons that challenge students to apply genetic, ecological, and physiological concepts to complex, open-ended clinical problems.
Project-Based Facilitation:
Guide students through immersive laboratory investigations, cultivating analytical reasoning, scientific writing, and experimental design skills.
Social-Emotional Mentorship:
Use collaborative team structures within PLTW and science labs to teach communication, resilience through trial-and-error, and peer feedback.
Inclusive Rigor:
Differentiate learning paths to ensure all students, from those needing foundational support to advanced honors scholars, are appropriately challenged.
Data & Assessment:
Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth, align instruction with state standards, and prepare students for PLTW End-of-Course assessments.
STEM Advocacy:
Collaborate with the math, CTE, and science departments to promote integrated STEM initiatives, science fairs, and healthcare career pathways.

Work Year:
