Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science and a Valid MO Teaching Certification.

Preferred:

Previous years of relevant work experience, preferably in an education setting.

Yes Purpose:

Teaches classes focusing on family relationships, child growth and education, family dynamics, how to be a community leader, and exploration of career opportunities.

• Essential Job Functions:

• Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
• To "telework" when requested by the District.
• Teach classes to prepare students for life after high school, ensuring students learn skills necessary to succeed within family, work, and community environments.
• Create and lead courses within the Family and Consumer Science curriculum such as Child Development, Family Living, Career and Family Leadership, Family Foods and Nutrition, Fashion and Fabrics, and Interior Design.
• Modify lesson plans for students on 504's and IEP's; attend IEP meetings.
• Supervise students during detention and provide assistance with homework.
• Manage a "play school", a hands-on preschool-like environment used to interact with and teach young students.
• Attend professional development sessions to learn new strategies and incorporate information into building relationships with students and colleagues.
• Develop policies and procedures used to create and maintain a safe, comfortable learning environment for all students.
