Our school is committed to developing globally minded learners through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), where students are encouraged to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and reflective learners. The ideal candidate will embrace a student-centered approach, integrating math and science instruction through inquiry-based units that connect to real-world concepts and global perspectives. Key Responsibilities Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans aligned with state standards and the IB PYP framework Integrate mathematics and science instruction into transdisciplinary units of inquiry that promote conceptual understanding and real-world application Foster a classroom environment that supports the IB Learner Profile and encourages curiosity, collaboration, and student agency Use a variety of assessment strategies (formative and summative) to monitor student progress and inform instruction Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with special education needs and multilingual learners Incorporate literacy and academic discourse into math and science instruction to strengthen students' communication skills Utilize technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance student engagement and deepen understanding Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and the IB Coordinato to plan and refine units of inquiry Actively participate in professional learning related to IB practices, inquiry instruction, and school initiatives Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, learning goals, and IB experiences Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master's degree preferred) Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure Experience teaching upper elementary grades, with a focus on math and/or science instruction Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework Experience with inquiry-based or project-based learning is strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners Knowledge of assessment practices, including preparing students for standardized assessments Strong collaboration and communication skills Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice Why Join Billingsville-Cotswold?
