Job Description

The High Point University Survey Research Center invites applications for an Adjunct Professor to teach courses in Survey Research Practicum and Data Analysis. These courses introduce students to the design, implementation, and analysis of public opinion research at the state and national levels. Students will gain hands-on experience with survey research methods, including questionnaire design, data collection, focus group facilitation, and statistical analysis. Through applied projects and real-world data, students will develop practical skills in survey research and program evaluation using platforms such as SPSS and other analytical tools.
Qualifications Required:
Ph.D. in political science, statistics, educational research methodology, or a closely related field. Professional experience using survey platforms for data collection in statewide and national public opinion polling. Professional experience planning and administering focus groups. Professional experience consulting on and reporting evaluations of academic or other programs. Professional experience recruiting, training, and managing undergraduate research staff. Strong communication and instructional skills with a demonstrated commitment to student success. Prior college-level teaching experience, particularly in survey research methods or data analysis. Experience working with SPSS, R, and other statistical software platforms. Ability to connect methodological theory to applied research practice and incorporate real-world examples into instruction. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate students in a Survey Research Practicum course and a course in data analysis, providing high-quality instruction and engaging learning experiences. Develop course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with learning outcomes and program goals. Integrate current practices in survey research, including online panel surveys, focus group methodology, and program evaluation. Provide students with hands-on experience in survey design, data collection, and statistical analysis using SPSS and other platforms. Foster student engagement through applied projects, simulations, and project-based learning tied to ongoing research initiatives. Maintain active communication with students and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments. Participate in departmental or center-related meetings and comply with university policies and procedures.
