Head of School About Wellheart Chartered School Wellheart Chartered School is a Reggio Emilia-inspired, hybrid, place-based public charter school in Merrimack, New Hampshire. We believe students learn deeply through curiosity, relationships, hands-on exploration, outdoor experiences, and meaningful connections to the world around them. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a flexible, creative, and collaborative Grades 5-8 Math and Science Teacher who is excited to help adapt Reggio-inspired learning for middle school students. Position Overview The Grades 5-8 Math and Science Teacher will design and deliver engaging math and science instruction that is rigorous, developmentally appropriate, and connected to real-world learning. This teacher will help students build strong academic skills while also encouraging curiosity, independence, problem-solving, collaboration, and joy in learning. The ideal candidate understands that middle school students need both structure and exploration. This role requires someone who can balance academic expectations with hands-on, outdoor, project-based, and inquiry-driven learning experiences. Essential Responsibilities Teach math and science to students in grades 5-8. Design lessons that align with New Hampshire academic standards and Wellheart's school model. Adapt Reggio Emilia-inspired practices for middle school learners through inquiry, documentation, reflection, collaboration, and student voice. Create hands-on, outdoor, experiential, and place-based learning opportunities. Collaborate with the Hybrid Coordinator to adapt lesson plans for at-home learning days. Provide clear learning expectations and assignments for students and families participating in the hybrid model. Use assessment data, student work, and observation to adjust instruction and support student growth. Build strong relationships with students and create a classroom culture that is respectful, joyful, safe, and intellectually engaging. Communicate regularly and professionally with families. Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary projects and schoolwide learning experiences. Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, school events, and community-based activities. Support the development of systems and practices as Wellheart continues to grow in its second year. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. New Hampshire teacher certification required or strongly preferred, especially in middle school math, science, elementary education, or a related area. Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students preferred. Strong understanding of math and science instruction. Interest in Reggio Emilia-inspired, project-based, outdoor, or place-based learning. Ability to collaborate, adapt, and build new systems in a growing charter school. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. A belief that middle school students are capable, curious, creative, and deserving of meaningful learning experiences.
