About the
Provide high-quality instruction in Sciences at both the secondary (high school) and postsecondary (junior college) levels in support of NewMexico Military Institute's dual-mission academic program. Faculty members are responsible for fostering scientific understanding, criticalthinking, and effective communication skills while supporting cadet academic success within a structured military environment and a liberalarts educational framework. This is an except 9-month, full-time position. The Salary is based on experience and education level. The jobdescription is available upon request.
New Mexico Military Institute:
The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, coeducationalinstitution offering college-preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets,NMMI offers a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high schoolcurriculum is fully accredited and prepares students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer tofour-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers adistinctive curriculum emphasizing immersive, intensive, hands-on learning in a structured environment.Position :
NMMI is seeking a tenure-track Sciences faculty to teach high school and/or junior college Sciences.Provide high-quality instruction in Sciences at both the secondary (high school) and postsecondary (junior college) levels in support of NewMexico Military Institute's dual-mission academic program. Tasks:
Teach High School and/or College courses in the academicdiscipline(s) of Science within the Science Department. Normal responsibilities for science faculty are assumed. These includebut are not limited to care of laboratories and equipment, recommending appropriate lab or demonstration equipment, contributing to theongoing development of course syllabi, cooperating within the division, remain current in teaching disciplines. Prepare coursesyllabi in accordance with the prescribed format used in the department. Other duties as assigned.EssentialSkills:
Individuals must, in addition to knowledge, skills, and abilities, possess the necessary physical capacity toperform the essential functions of the job as defined in this document. Factual familiarity with the subject matter in teachingareas. Factual familiarity with learning skills in teaching areas. Acumen and eagerness to become familiar with andabide by regulations established in the Faculty Handbook, NMMI Operations, and Procedure Manual. Be familiar with the Corps of Cadets Manual(Blue Book).Qualifications:
Required:
Faculty in general must possess a master'sdegree from a regionally accredited institution, preferably with an initial contract or, in exceptional cases, within five years. Faculty who will teach college courses must possess a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in their teaching field OR amaster's degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least eighteen graduate hours in their teaching field.Preferred:
