HS Earth & Space Science Teacher Green Tech High School - 1.0 Albany, NY Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $65,000 a year 3 hours ago Qualifications School experience Student progress monitoring Academic test scoring Teaching Certification Working with high schoolers Public school experience Working with children Achievement tests Full Job Description Responsibilities Maintain and enrich their expertise in the subject area they willteach; Developlessonplansthatensuretheattainmentofstatelearningstandardsandtheadditionalspecific grade-by-grade learning standards set forth in thecharter; Coordinatelessonplanswithotherteacherstomaximizepossibilitiesforteachingsimilartopicsinthesamegeneraltimeframe,thusreinforcingstudentknowledgeonaninterdisciplinarybasis; Provide direct and indirectinstruction; Long and short-term planning addressing individual needs ofstudents; Prepare students adequately for all requiredassessments; Evaluate students'progress; Prepare monthly individual student achievement reports forparents; Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learningenvironment; Engage in effective and appropriate classroommanagement; Serve as advisor tostudents; Report directly to theprincipal; Serveasadvisor to students,includingorganizingadvisorygroups,overseeingthe academic and behavioralprogress; Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by theprincipal. Qualifications Demonstratedexpertiseinthesubjecttheywillteach,asevidencedbypersonalskillsandknowledge, anundergraduatemajororminororgraduatedegreeinthesubjecttheywillteach, or direct subject-areateachingexperience; If not covered by any of the exemptions provided under New York's charter-schoollaw, possessanyrequiredstateteachingcertificationandmeetanyotherapplicablecredentialingrequirementsincludingthefederalElementaryandSecondaryEducationAct,asamended; Demonstrated communicationskills; Demonstrated ability and experience to engage the interest of high school-agechildren; Demonstrated ability to work with diverse children, including those with specialneeds; Teachingexperiencein a public or private school, preferably in an urbansetting; Demonstrated ability to work well withparents; Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a teammember; Demonstrated ability to evaluate tests and measurements. of achievement;and Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for studentresults.
