Job Summary:
The Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Instructor & Cadaver Lab Manager serves primarily as an instructor for undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology laboratories, demonstrating excellence in laboratory teaching, student mentoring, and service to the University community. Secondarily, the role oversees cadaver laboratory operations in compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Tissue Compliance Officer requirements, including AMSNY applications, cadaveric specimen acquisition, and the ethical, safe, and compliant management of cadavers used for anatomical instruction.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

This position primarily serves as an instructor in undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology laboratories, with a strong emphasis on excellence in laboratory teaching, student mentoring, and service to the University community. The successful candidate will employ inclusive, innovative, and high-impact pedagogical practices to promote student success, including curriculum development, project-based learning (PBL), and the effective use of instructional technologies such as Anatomage Tables and cadaver-based learning. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the position holds secondary responsibility for managing cadaver laboratory operations in full compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teach multiple sections per academic year of undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology laboratory courses using innovative, student-centered instructional approaches, including Anatomage Tables and cadaver-based instruction. Demonstrate excellence in undergraduate laboratory teaching, mentoring of students and peer tutors, and service to the University community. Develop, implement, and assess laboratory curriculum that supports student engagement, inclusivity, and academic success. Serve as NYSDOH Tissue Compliance Officer and Cadaver Lab Compliance Officer for the cadaver lab, maintaining accurate records of cadaver use and all required regulatory documentation. Manage all aspects of cadaver laboratory operations, including cadaveric specimen ordering, preparation, handling, storage, and disposition. Oversee laboratory maintenance and safety, including specimen and lab cleaning before and after use, inventory of supplies and equipment, and compliance with HVAC, environmental health, and safety requirements. Coordinate cadaver lab scheduling and utilization to support instructional needs and institutional priorities. Hire, train, and supervise prosection team members and other relevant laboratory personnel. Required Qualifications Prior experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology laboratory coursework. A strong, demonstrated commitment to excellence in laboratory teaching for a diverse population of undergraduate pre-professional health science and healthcare students. Strong anatomical knowledge, with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy essential for guiding students during dissection. Proficiency in dissection techniques and proper handling of anatomical tools. Demonstrated ability to implement inclusive, student-centered instructional practices that promote engagement and academic success. Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage laboratory activities, schedules, and instructional resources. Attention to detail in cadaver preparation, lab maintenance, and compliance with safety protocols. Ability to adhere to and enforce strict safety, ethical, and biohazard protocols in laboratory environments. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including explaining anatomical structures clearly and addressing student questions. Professionalism and ethical integrity, including respectful handling of cadavers and adherence to donor privacy guidelines. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching with cadaver-based instruction and/or advanced anatomical visualization technologies (e.g., Anatomage Tables). Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of Anatomy & Physiology laboratory courses. Experience mentoring undergraduate students, peer tutors, or instructional assistants in laboratory settings. Familiarity with or prior responsibility for cadaver laboratory management, including specimen handling, inventory, and regulatory documentation. Knowledge of or experience with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) tissue bank or cadaver laboratory compliance requirements. Experience implementing high-impact pedagogical practices, such as project-based learning (PBL), to promote student success.Education Requirements:
Applicants are required to have already graduated with a Masters in a Biomedical Sciences program or higher, or hold a D.Sc., D.P. T., D.C., D.O., M.D., Ph.D., or other degrees with a focus in teaching human anatomy. Applicants are preferred to hold a certification in cadaver dissection, or M.S. degrees in Human Anatomy that involve rigorous, in-depth, hands-on cadaver dissection as a core requirement of their curriculum.Physical/Other Requirements:
