Job Description

Position Summary East Irondequoit Middle School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered New York State Certified Science Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Science, preparing students for the NYS Regents Examination while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for scientific inquiry. Responsibilities include designing rigorous, hands-on lessons aligned to the NYS Learning Standards for Science, incorporating laboratory investigations, analyzing data, and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learners' needs. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students, maintains high academic expectations, collaborates effectively within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and contributes positively to a safe, supportive school culture. Candidates must hold appropriate NYS certification in any Science (7-12). Experience with Regents preparation, lab-based instruction, and supporting diverse learners is preferred. Performance Responsibilities The Teacher shall:
Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Use a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students Integrate technology and instructional resources effectively Assessment & Data Design and implement formative and summative assessments Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families Classroom Environment Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate Promote positive student behavior and social-emotional growth Implement district-approved behavior and safety procedures Collaboration & Communication Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and department meetings Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate records as required by district and state guidelines Participate in professional development activities Comply with district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations Perform other duties as assigned by administration Terms of Employment Salary, teaching schedule, and benefits in accordance with the EITA contract Appointment subject to Board of Education approval Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures, New York State regulations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Qualifications:
