This role is designed to introduce students to essential life skills, including nutrition, basic food preparation, financial literacy, and personal development. We are looking for an educator who can facilitate hands-on learning and help our junior high students build a foundation for healthy, productive lives.

Key Responsibilities Instruction:

Deliver engaging curriculum in areas such as Food Science & Nutrition, Interior Design, Textiles/Apparel, and Consumer Education.

Lab Management:

Oversee the safety and organization of the FACS lab (kitchens, sewing machines, etc.), ensuring all equipment is maintained and properly used.

Life Skills Development:

Teach practical skills, including basic cooking techniques, budgeting, and interpersonal communication.

FCCLA Leadership:

Serve as the advisor for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student organization, including supervising competitions and community service projects.

Classroom Environment:

Maintain an organized, high-energy classroom that prioritizes safety and collaborative learning.

Required Qualifications Certification:

Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences (Grades 6-8 or PK-12).

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or Education.

Preferred Qualifications FCCLA Experience:

Prior experience leading or participating in FCCLA chapters and competitive events.

Industry Knowledge:

Certifications such as ServSafe are highly desirable.

Innovative Instruction:

Experience with Project-Based Learning (PBL) and integrating modern technology into traditional life skills.

Collaboration:

Ability to work with the High School FACS department to ensure a smooth transition for students entering the CTE (Career and Tech Ed) pathway.
