Aug 24, 2026 Job Description Our school is a small 9-12 alternative education program within the Philomath School District built around strong relationships, personalized learning, and meaningful real-world experiences. Using a workshop model, teachers provide direct instruction, small group support, individualized learning opportunities, and project-based experiences within a flexible, student-centered environment. We believe students learn best when they feel connected, supported, and able to see purpose in their education. In addition to academic growth, we emphasize career exploration, soft skill development, citizenship, and helping students build confidence in themselves and their future goals. Our program combines hands-on learning, project-based opportunities, and personalized pacing supported through Edmentum Courseware to meet students where they are and help them succeed. We are seeking a flexible, relationship-centered educator with experience teaching secondary math and science. Applicants must have a strong background in math and science content and the Oregon Academic Standards, along with effective classroom management and instructional strategies that support diverse learners. The ideal candidate values positive teacher-student relationships, differentiated instruction, and personalized learning within a flexible alternative education setting. Experience with small group instruction, project-based learning, and supporting students with diverse academic and social-emotional needs is highly valued.
QUALIFICATIONS
Oregon Certification with Mathematics and/or Science endorsement as determined by Oregon Teacher Standards & Practices Commission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver instruction aligned to Oregon Academic Standards in secondary math and science, meeting diverse student needs. Use a workshop model with direct instruction, small groups, and individualized support. Implement hands-on, real-world, and project-based learning experiences. Support personalized and competency-based learning, including blended instruction through Edmentum Courseware. Create and maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement and responsibility. Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction to support growth and mastery. Build strong relationships and serve as a student advocate through academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support. Participate in advisory, collaboration with staff, family communication, and required school/district duties. Assess, prescribe and evaluate student performance based upon standards-centered instruction through data analysis and student learning growth goals. Assess classroom work samples according to the Oregon state assessment guidelines. Adhere to state, district and school policies. Be competent with instructional technology skills. Carry out other assignments as designated by the principal.
CONTRACT
Starting for the 2026-27 School Year, 190-day annual contract (in response to approved District calendar) Salary and full benefits per Licensed negotiated agreement.
