Active teaching license in math or science Teach one to six courses Monday through Friday 8-9:30am, 9:30-11am, and/or 11:30-1pm. June 16-July 1 and/or July 6-17 (No class on June 19, July 2, 3, 10) This job announcement is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. This is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Program Summary Upward Bound is a program serving low-income, first-generation college bound at David Douglas High School. UB provides afterschool and summer programming including tutoring, advising, workshops, field trips and summer classes to help students be successful in high school and navigate the college going process. Position Summary Summer Instructors will be recruited to teach one to six classes in our Upward Bound Summer Session. They will have teaching degrees and current licenses or otherwise demonstrate they are qualified to teach the courses they are offering. Summer Instructors may have a schedule within each assignment, but the schedule is likely to vary from assignment to assignment. There is no guarantee of the number of assignments or the number of hours worked. Summer Instructors are not eligible to participate in the IRCO's pension plans, benefits, PTO, Holiday pay, or leaves of absence unless otherwise required by law. Summer Instructors will be paid hourly. Essential Functions Work with IRCO Upward Bound staff to design summer program curricula, including giving and scoring a pre/post assessment for each course to gauge student learning. Successful candidates may also propose teaching additional courses in STEAM, foreign language, social studies, psychology, or soft skills. Teach at least one course of mathematics or laboratory science, especially and specifically: o Math, Integrated 1 and 2• o Math, Integrated 3 o Precalculus, Trig and Calculus• These classes teach students who are in multiple math levels so that curriculum will need to be scaffolded and/or differentiated in a way to be accessible to lower-level students and challenging for higher-level students (additional prep hours may apply). Secondary Functions Will provide a syllabus of the course curriculum as well as any plans for differentiation. Will report daily attendance and communicate any issues or concerns to UB full-time staff. May help provide recreational activities strengthening team building and personal development skills of students during the summer program. May chaperone and/or attend summer program related activities including summer orientation, teacher meetings, and/or summer field trips. Other functions as assigned by the

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in math or science or a related field. Teaching degree and current license in (or otherwise demonstrate the qualifications to teach) the course(s) they are offering Minimum 1 year of teaching experience Ability to scaffold and differentiate curriculum to accommodate multiple levels of learning. Physical, Mental, & Environmental Requirements Analytical and decision-making abilities. Strong skills in the community focused on interpersonal and organizational communication. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to individuals and groups. Ability to listen for understanding and assist in problem solving. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Well protected environment with minimal hazards or obstacles Supervisory Responsibilities Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions, or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers.
