GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of administration, this position is responsible for ordering and processing parts and fuel, and operating video management software for the Transportation Department; maintaining accurate inventory records for all items; and assisting with the review, retrieval, and archiving of bus video surveillance footage. Additional duties include coordinating with vendors for parts and services, processing parts requisitions from mechanics, supporting the shop coordinator and mechanics with shop and fleet-related activities, and managing bus video footage as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Depending upon the individual assignment, the Transportation Technician may perform all or a combination of the following: 1. Represent the Transportation Department as a purchase agent; generate purchase orders for purchase of parts, fuel and services as needed for the fleet and shop; coordinate with Shop Coordinator on vendor price bids. 2. Order, receive and process parts and supplies; Perform on-line ordering; check status on part and supply orders; verify cost and discounts of parts, fuel and services; verify account codes and purchase orders on invoices; coordinate delivery of parts and fuel from vendors; drive transportation vehicle to pick-up parts and supplies. 3. Maintains and verify current inventory of parts and fuel; restock inventory as needed; arrange return of process overstock and obsolete inventory to vendors; make inventory adjustments as needed and file adjustment reports; conduct yearly inventory on parts and fuel. 4. Confirm what parts and/or labor are under warranty; work with vendors on parts and labor warranties; validate warranty credit when received. 5. Discuss products and parts comparisons with vendors; answer inquiries from vendors; gather yearly price quotes from vendors; responsible for trouble shooting between Transportation and vendors. 6. Process parts and supply requisitions from the mechanics; process mechanics work orders; review all work orders processed for accuracy; assist mechanics when needed. 7. Assist shop coordinator with shop and fleet activities; support shop coordinator on daily activities; answer and respond to shop telephone; contact vendors for services as needed; keep records on files related to daily activities of the fleet, shop, and services. 8. Coordinate efforts with dispatch when needed; answer questions and generate reports for related school district departments when requested. 9. Assist in coordinating Transportation parts and fuel audits; maintain account and budget records as assigned; verifies accuracy of records generated; generate the End of the Month Report for Transportation Director. 10. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position. 11. Process bus video review forms; coordinate with bus drivers, schools, and administrators to pull review, and archive bus video footage using video management software. 12. Maintain accurate SD card and hard drive inventory 13. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential Information, consistent with district ethical guidelines. 14. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and Intent of the position.

Reports to the Director of Transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasionally required to lift, move or carry heavy shipped items weighing more than thirty (30) pounds; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment, including two (2) years of training in office/parts experience with detailed records maintenance. Parts and purchasing experience preferred. Allowable Substitutions Advanced training in business or secretarial procedures may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience on a month-for-month basis; and, such other alternatives to the above qualifications that the district may find appropriate and acceptable. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skill in oral and written communications. Knowledge or purchasing procedures. Knowledge of general secretarial procedures. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage. Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures. Keyboarding and data entry skills. Skill in operating general office machines. Skill in operating a computer and the ability to learn a variety of software programs. Ability to set up and maintain accurate filling systems. Ability to tend to detail and follow tasks through to completion. Ability to organize and set priorities. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Skill in maintaining inventory records. Knowledge of parts/warehouse operations. Ability to purchase goods and services. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff and vendors. Ability to operate video management software. Licenses/Special Requirements Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan. Some positions may require a valid Washington state driver's license to travel between school sites and a good driving record.
