Upward Bound Summer Teachers Needed (English, Math, Science) LNESC Philadelphia, PA Job Details Temporary $40 - $50 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Spanish Engaging lesson design (student motivation techniques) Cultural competency Bachelor's degree Student needs assessment Student progress notes Student academic progress tracking Full Job Description This position is from June 22 2018 to July 31, 2026: 6 week position. 5 hours a week. 1 hour a day Mon-Thurs with one hour of paid prep. Pay is $50/hr. Total is $250/week. Here are the requirements for all positions: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred in the area of competency(math, science or other STEM field, English composition, foreign language, etc.). Teaching experience (Certified) in area of subject competency. Ability to assess academic needs and evaluate participants in an academic setting.� Ability to document contacts and track academic progress. Experience in a similar college-bound program preferred. Must indicate either professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target population from which participants will be selected. We are currently hiring for the following subjects: Bilingual in Spanish ELL Certified (Preferred)
Math Teacher:
For our summer Math course we want the focus to be on SAT, ACT, Keystone, and Accuplacer Prep. This will mean designing a curriculum based on the ACT, SAT, Keystone and Accuplacer. The candidate will work five hours per week and will be compensated $50.00 per hour.
English Teacher :
For our summer English course, we want the focus to be on SAT, ACT, Keystone, and Accuplacer preparation, with an emphasis on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, and writing skills. This will mean designing a curriculum based on the ACT, SAT, Keystone, and Accuplacer. The candidate will work five hours per week and will be compensated $50.00 per hour.
Biology Teacher :
For our summer Biology course, we want the focus to be on strengthening foundational biological concepts, scientific inquiry, laboratory skills, and preparation for high school science assessments and college readiness. This will mean designing a curriculum that incorporates hands-on learning, critical thinking, and key biology concepts aligned with secondary and postsecondary expectations. The candidate will work five hours per week and will be compensated $50.00 per hour.
Elective Teacher :
For our summer Elective course, we want the focus to be on enrichment, career exploration, leadership development, and student engagement through innovative and interactive learning experiences. This will mean designing a curriculum that promotes creativity, teamwork, communication, and personal growth while supporting students' academic and career goals. The candidate will work five hours per week and will be compensated $50.00 per hour.
Foreign Language Teacher :
For our summer Foreign Language course, we want the focus to be on developing students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while increasing cultural awareness and global competency. This will mean designing a curriculum that emphasizes language acquisition, communication, and practical application of the target language in real-world contexts. The candidate will work five hours per week and will be compensated $50.00 per hour. We are also able to hire a single teacher for more than one subject. For example a teacher may be hired for both our Math & Science courses and compensated for both.
