$64,000 - $120,000 per year About the Role A dynamic, student-centered public charter school in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking enthusiastic Science teachers to join its instructional team for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, hybrid role includes on-campus instruction combined with remote planning and/or asynchronous responsibilities. The school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, strong academic routines, and culturally responsive instruction. This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator passionate about Earth Science and committed to helping middle school students develop curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a strong foundation in scientific inquiry. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned 6th grade Earth Science instruction Teach core Earth Science concepts, including geology, weather and climate, Earth systems, space science, and environmental science Design hands-on investigations, labs, and inquiry-based lessons Integrate real-world applications, technology, data analysis, and multimedia resources Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment (in-person and online) Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction Provide timely, constructive feedback aligned to science standards Collaborate with grade-level and science department colleagues Maintain consistent communication with families Participate in professional development and contribute positively to the school community Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Science, Earth Science, Education, or a related field Master's degree preferred Experience Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in a charter school setting Middle school science experience preferred Experience with inquiry-based or standards-aligned instruction Skills Strong understanding of NGSS or state science standards Ability to deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences Effective classroom management and organizational skills Strong communication and collaboration skills Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching Ability to obtain or hold appropriate DC teaching licensure Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and education Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer contribution Paid time off and school holidays Relocation assistance Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities Supportive, collaborative, mission-driven school environment
