La Salle Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school, sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (the De La Salle Christian Brothers) offering a comprehensive curriculum. Founded in 1871 and located in the heart of Providence, La Salle Academy serves a student body of 1560 students in grades 6 through 12. La Salle Academy has as its mission the education of young men and women of diverse backgrounds, with a special concern for the working class and the poor, in the tradition of St. John Baptist De La Salle's ideals of faith, service, and community. La Salle Academy is seeking a dynamic and well-rounded science educator to join our Science department. The primary responsibility for the position is teaching Physics, with opportunities to instruct at all levels of Physics from College Prep through Advanced Placement, Engineering, Robotics, or other science-related subjects based on expertise and student interest. Additionally, the ability to teach in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Mathematics areas is preferred. We are looking for passionate educators who can engage students in inquiry-based learning, foster scientific curiosity, and contribute to a collaborative academic environment. Educators from any science background are encouraged to apply.Responsibilities:
Teach Physics to high school students following state and national standards. Have the ability to teach at all levels of Physics, from College Prep to the Advanced Placement Level. Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on labs, critical thinking, and real-world applications. Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning. Assess and support student progress through differentiated instruction. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and contribute to the science department. Participate in school activities, professional development, and extracurricular programs as needed.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Physics, Education, or a related field. Strong background in Physics or general science. Field experience in related fields will be considered. Teaching experience in other science subjects or disciplines preferred. Experience in hands-on, inquiry-based science instruction preferred. Effective classroom management and communication skills. Passion for fostering student engagement and scientific inquiry.Position Type:
