Function:
The Woonsocket Learning Community provides all learners a safe and rigorous learning experience that embraces diversity, culture, and individuality to create productive members of our global community. An individual who supports interdependent student-centered classrooms that promote discourse and collaboration. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Diagnose the learning disablilties of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required. Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Required Qualifications:
RIDE Science (6-12 or 5-8 Middle School) Strong experience working with students with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges
RIDE MLL
Certification Preferred Right to Read Awareness Certification required
