Job Description

Job Description Austin Peay State University invites applications for individuals seeking a Full-time visiting instructor position (one-year temporary) for the Department of Chemistry. This position is face-to-face/in-person teaching on the Clarksville campus starting in August 2026. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain teaching experience in a supportive, student-centered department with a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The Department of Chemistry fosters collaboration among faculty and provides access to well-equipped teaching laboratories and shared instructional resources. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses in introductory and general chemistry within the American Chemical Society-accredited Department of Chemistry. The instructor may have opportunities to teach additional upper-division courses within their field of study, depending on their experience and the Department's needs. Physical Requirements Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Demonstrated success as a teacher preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to effective, inclusive teaching in introductory and general chemistry.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in Inorganic or Materials Chemistry, but all specialties considered.
  • A background search will be required of the successful applicant.
