High School Chemistry Teacher

TRENTON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:

Chemistry and/or

Physics Teacher Peabody High School Term of Employment:

Two hundred (200) days contract

Immediate Supervisor:

Building Level Principal Qualifications:

Tennessee Licensure for Chemistry and/or

Physics Evaluation:

Conducted by the building level administrators and Central Office supervisory staff.

Skills:

Be a mature individual Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule Have effective interpersonal skills Have the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely Have the ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality Have the ability to work with students Have the ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following : Planning and implementing the daily program using current state standards Planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies Attendance is an essential function of this job Supervise the classroom Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times Treat all students with dignity and respect Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of students. Maintain a neat and organized classroom. Supervise activities to ensure safety at all times.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to : In case of an emergency, must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in need Work outdoors in any variety of weather Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping Have mobility required to ensure the safety of students Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities
