POSITION OVERVIEW
The Computer Applications & Science Teacher serves students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 during Semester 1 of the 2026-2027 school year. The role covers practical technology skills and foundational computer science concepts and operates from a dedicated computer lab. The ideal candidate brings both technical fluency and strong classroom presence. This is a semester-long position and does not automatically extend into Semester 2.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Teach Computer Applications and introductory Computer Science concepts to Grades 6, 7, and 8 ▪ Integrate digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible technology use across all grade levels ▪ Deliver instruction in productivity tools: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and digital research ▪ Manage and maintain the computer lab environment, devices, and software in coordination with school IT ▪ Introduce foundational coding and computational thinking through age-appropriate platforms (e.g., Scratch, Code.org, Python basics) ▪ Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners across three grade levels ▪ Design project-based learning activities that connect technology skills to real-world applications ▪ Collaborate with core subject teachers to support cross-curricular technology integration ▪ Assess student progress using project-based and skills-based evaluation methods ▪ Attend school-wide professional development, staff meetings, and school events ▪ Maintain accurate grade records and communicate student progress to families ▪ Fulfill assigned campus duties as part of the regular school day
QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Bachelor's degree required; Computer Science, Information Technology, or Education preferred ▪ Strong classroom management and student engagement skills ▪ Experience teaching technology, computer applications, or CS to middle school students ▪ Texas teaching certification preferred (out-of-state accepted) ▪ Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office suite ▪ Ability to manage and troubleshoot classroom technology independently ▪ Familiarity with introductory coding platforms (Scratch, Code.org, Python, or similar) ▪ Enthusiasm for technology education and a growth mindset in a fast-changing field
