TITLE:
Upper School Science Teacher (Anticipated for the 2026-2027 School Year)
REPORTS TO
Head of School and Principal Position Overview We are seeking a creative, visionary, and student-centered Upper School Science Teacher to join our Dallas Academy Team. The Science Teacher will inspire curiosity, critical thinking and a deep appreciation for scientific discovery, design and facilitate engaging, hands-on lessons that encourage students to investigate the natural world, ask meaningful questions, and develop the analytical skills essential to scientific inquiry
Performance Responsibilities:
1. To create a differentiated, multi-sensory, flexible and highly organized program for students with Learning Differences. 2. Guide students in constructing their own understanding of scientific concepts through laboratory work, field investigations, project‑based learning, and real‑world applications 3. Committed to staying current with scientific advancements, integrating innovative instructional strategies, and using technology to enhance investigative learning 4. To establish effective rapport with the students 5. To motivate and engage students to develop skills and knowledge needed to provide an excellent academic foundation in accordance with each student's ability 6. To establish effective communicative relationships with parents 7. To work in cooperative professional groups with colleagues and the community 8. To collect and analyze individual student data to make appropriate instructional decisions 9. Participates in curriculum and program development as requested. 10. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. 11. Performs other job-related responsibilities as per the Head of School and/or Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Valid Texas Science Teaching Certification (preferred) 2. Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification (preferred) 3. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field of science or education 4. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 5. Proficient in using digital tools and technology for daily tasks and communication 6. Experience with or strong interest in students with learning differences 7. Experience with the implementation of Research-Based Best Practices in the field of Special Education 8. Strong classroom management skills 9. Flexibility, patience, and creativity 10. Ability to adapt lessons for varied learning styles and developmental levels 11. Enthusiasm for working in a small, collaborative school environment 12. Passion for nurturing creativity, confidence and independence in all learners
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
All employees of Dallas Academy are at-will employees, terms of employment are outlined in employee contracts. Employees are provided with a competitive salary and benefits package.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated by, but not limited to, the Principal and communicated to the Head of School for review.
