This position is locally funded. Position Summary The Emerging Educator (EE) role gives Instructional Assistants the opportunity to learn and grow as an aspiring teacher under the tutelage of an experienced, highly effective teacher. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities 1. Develop teaching knowledge and skills through observation and dialogue with an experienced teacher. 2. Improve student achievement through the application of effective classroom practices and research-based instructional strategies. 3. Assist with the implementation of the district curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). 4. Assist with the analysis of formative and summative data to develop targeted instruction based on students' individual needs. 5. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position. Minimum Requirements Must be an undergraduate student with at least 60 college credit hours earned towards completing a bachelor's degree. Must be pursuing a teaching certification in EC-6, SPED, or BIL. Must have the following educational requirements: Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college/university; or A minimum of 60 semester college hours from an accredited college or university; and High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency; and Must obtain an educational aide certificate issued by the State Board of Education. Must be eligible to complete a Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned at the end of the residency. Must have completed at least 50 hours of pre-service observations with one of our University Partners (UTSA, OLLU, Texas State University, St. Mary's, Texas A&M-SA). Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Understand and implement the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Broad-based knowledge and training in research-based teaching and learning strategies. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate teaching and learning practices. Knowledge of all special populations represented in the district and the unique needs of these learners along with an understanding of differentiated instruction and culturally relevant pedagogy. Knowledge and skills in the use of technology as an instructional tool. Demonstrated skills in organization, leadership, communication, problem-solving, facilitation, collaboration, research, and team building. Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with campus staff. Working Conditions Work Environment:
