Job Description
The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Grades 5-6 Math/Science Teacher to join our collaborative learning community for the 2026-2027 school year. CTL is a Cognia-accredited private school serving students in PreK-12 through an inquiry-based, project-based, and constructivist approach to learning. We believe in igniting and growing a love of learning in every child through meaningful relationships, engaging instruction, and individualized support. The Grades 5-6 Math/Science Teacher will provide high-quality instruction in mathematics and science that promotes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem-solving, scientific inquiry, and real-world application. The successful candidate will foster a positive classroom culture where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to take ownership of their learning.
Qualifications Required:
Valid Texas teaching certification appropriate for teaching mathematics and/or science at the upper elementary or middle school level. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics and science content and instructional best practices. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to CTL's mission and student-centered philosophy. Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred:
Experience teaching mathematics and/or science in Grades 5-6. Experience using inquiry-based, project-based, and constructivist instructional practices. Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Experience facilitating hands-on science investigations and STEM activities. Familiarity with small-school or multi-age educational settings. Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum Teach mathematics and science to students in Grades 5-6 using engaging, research-based instructional practices. Develop and implement lessons that promote conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, experiments, STEM activities, and investigations that encourage students to explore concepts and make real-world connections. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students. Maintain high academic expectations while supporting student growth and confidence. Student Support Build positive relationships with students and families. Create a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to learning. Encourage student ownership, responsibility, and self-reflection. Support students' academic, social, and emotional development. Collaborate with colleagues to address student needs and celebrate student successes. Collaboration and Communication Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities. Contribute positively to CTL's collaborative school culture. Assessment and Documentation Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and assessment records. Monitor and document student progress. Participate in student-led conferences and portfolio development as requested. Use assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth.

The Center for Teaching & Learning is unable to sponsor employment visas or provide work authorization sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to work on-site in the Woodlands/Tomball area. Must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate independently to, the Woodlands/Tomball area before employment begins. Relocation assistance is not provided.
