This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially while supporting the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will create a classroom atmosphere that inspires curiosity, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles in daily teaching and interactions. Nature of the Role This position is considered a faith-forming role within the school community. In addition to providing strong academic instruction, the teacher is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The role requires a teacher who can positively influence students through both instruction and personal example, fostering a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship. Qualifications Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent and have at least two years of teaching experience, preferably within a formal educational setting. Successful applicants will demonstrate a genuine love for teaching and mentoring youth, strong classroom management and communication skills, the ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives, as well as a commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates should also bring enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism to the classroom while remaining committed to ongoing professional growth and the use of varied instructional methods to support student learning. Faith and Mission Responsibilities In addition to academic responsibilities, teachers at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission. Professional Expectations Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose. Teaching Responsibilities The High School Science Teacher should bring a warm, energetic, and engaging presence that helps students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong subject-matter knowledge and the ability to present material in a clear, organized, and meaningful way. Teachers should foster curiosity and critical thinking, help students connect classroom learning to the world around them, and create engaging lessons that encourage thoughtful discussion and practical application of concepts. The ideal educator will distill complex information into understandable principles while maintaining strong pacing, organization, and enthusiasm throughout instruction. Communication and Organization Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and maintain purposeful classroom routines that support effective learning. Responsibilities include creating and posting assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics; monitoring and communicating student progress consistently; and maintaining collaborative, timely, and positive communication with parents and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for supporting student success and maintaining a productive classroom environment. Experience working with students who have specific learning disabilities is considered beneficial but is not required. Extracurricular Opportunities Applicants are encouraged to share any interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs. AHS prefers to fill coaching and activity roles with employees who have both the interest and skills to mentor students in these areas.
