The Junior School Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Science (Biology) and Family Health, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. The teacher will design and implement engaging lessons aligned to district curriculum and state standards while meeting the diverse needs of middle school learners.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide primary instruction in 7-9 Science/Biology and 7-9 Family Health aligned with district curriculum and Washington State standards. Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities that support student learning and achievement. Develop and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including at-risk and special populations. Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote equity, engagement, and academic success for all students. Assess and monitor student progress using multiple assessment tools; use data to inform and adjust instruction. Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and progress. Create a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to learning and student development. Establish and maintain positive relationships with students to support their academic and social-emotional growth. Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and needs. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and additional meetings as needed. Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to develop and implement effective instructional practices. Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district/building committees. Incorporate instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. Support school-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture. Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, families, and the community. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and district policies and regulations. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s): 7-9 Science/Biology and 7-9 Health required. Demonstrated knowledge of middle school curriculum and instructional practices. Understanding of adolescent development and the unique needs of middle school students. Ability to analyze student data and use it to guide instruction. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching middle school 7-9 Science/Biology and 7-9 Family Health. Experience working with diverse student populations. Familiarity with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Experience integrating technology into instruction. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders.Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Ability to carry, push, and pull materials and equipment. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Frequent reaching, handling, speaking, hearing, writing, and use of fine motor skills.Benefits:
