The position works with faculty in Applied Sciences (engineering, computer science, and information technology) in preparing, modifying, and developing instructional programs, teaching aids, materials, and equipment associated with shop, classroom, or laboratory instruction, requiring technical knowledge of the discipline. The Technician supports individualized or group instruction of students in Applied Sciences, assists with demonstrations and laboratory activities, maintains classroom and laboratory spaces, and manages procurement and repair of supplies and equipment.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Instructional & Laboratory SupportPrepare materials and equipment for use in shop, classroom, and laboratory settings; set up assignments, equipment, and demonstration apparatus for classesPlan and conduct experiments and demonstrations in a formal course work setting; confer with instructors in establishing and developing assignmentsAssist instructors in presenting course material.

With guidance from faculty, assist students in course work assignments, individualized and group instruction, and development of learning skillsAssist students and instructors in selecting correct tools and materialsModify equipment, materials, and programs as required for individual instructors; edit laboratory handouts and manuals in consultation with instructorsEquipment, Safety, & OperationsOperate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory and demonstration instruments and equipment in accordance with standardized proceduresInstruct students, teaching assistants, and faculty in the proper use and operation of equipmentMonitor laboratories to ensure compliance with safety policy; assist in the development of safe laboratory proceduresSupervise students during hands-on laboratory activities, approved student club activities, and outreach activitiesSupport makerspace operations including access, safety orientation, training, and equipment availabilityConduct literature searches and assist in determining suitable methods and materials for Applied Sciences research and instructional activitiesProcurement & Resource ManagementEstimate quantity and quality of supplies and materials needed for courses; maintain adequate stock levelsOrder equipment and supplies for Applied Sciences; follow through with the purchasing department on procurement of materials and suppliesReceive, catalog, and maintain materials and supplies; coordinate with the purchasing department for timely procurementPrepare progress reports concerning instructional support and laboratory activities; assemble and organize data as directed by instructorsCollaboration & CoverageCross-train and collaborate with other Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians within the Applied Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing area to ensure continuity of instructional support; train and oversee work study students assigned to the departmentPerform other related duties as required, prioritizing classroom and laboratory instructional support needsGeneral DutiesProvide assistance during special events, outreach activities, or campus initiatives related to Applied SciencesPerform other duties as assigned to support operations and meet the needs of the Applied Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing are of study and the college.

Terms of EmploymentFull-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Overtime eligible - FLSA non-exemptPosition is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures. Represented by Washington Federation of State Employees Union.

Performance will be evaluated after a six (6) month probationary period and annually.
