Job Description

ADN BIOLOGY INSTRUCTOR SUMMARY
The incumbent?s primary responsibility is to provide high-quality instruction to students enrolled in BIO101 (Microbiology) , BIO201 (Anatomy and Physiology I) , and/or BIO202 (Anatomy and Physiology II) . The instructor is expected to plan, organize, and deliver coursework in a manner that supports successful student learning and reflects the learning-centered values and goals of Valley College. All instructional activities must be conducted in accordance with Valley College policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards. Because this position handles sensitive student and institutional information, strict adherence to all confidentiality and privacy requirements is expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
General Follow instructor-provided lesson plans that include lecture and/or lab instruction, assignments, activities, homework, and?when applicable?evaluation tools. Instructors are expected to collaborate with the Academics team to ensure lesson plans align with the corporate curriculum. Develops lesson plans, lectures, labs, assignment/activities, and homework as required or requested. Demonstrate procedures/processes and operate appropriate equipment as designated by the curriculum. Grade and evaluate students' work in a timely manner and provide constructive feedback, if applicable. Provide reports/updates on students, as requested Responsible for maintaining a cooperative and professional learning environment. Assist and tutor students who are experiencing difficulty with course material, as needed. Represents the school positively to prospective students, current students, and supporters. Course Development (If applicable) Conduct ongoing evaluation of course materials as outlined in the Valley College Nursing Program bylaws. Participate in the selection of textbooks and instructional materials. Maintain student handouts, tests, assignments, and course syllabi as directed by the Program Administrator. Professional Development Develop a professional development growth plan. Provide supporting documentation demonstrating completion of the plan?s activities. Attend scheduled faculty meetings and in-service workshops as required. Other Tasks Performs other responsibilities requested by supervisor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a professional academic classroom and clinical setting. It is an onsite position. The position routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to phones, computers, printers, photocopiers, projectors, and an online teaching platform. The position may perform procedures or processes and operate or demonstrate the use of appropriate equipment as designated by the curriculum. The employee must be able to: Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods Frequently use hands and fingers to operate office equipment Occasionally reach, bend, or lift to move items such as but not limited to files, office supplies, or equipment. Maintain visual acuity to read and prepare documents Reasonable accommodation requests will be considered per ADA guidelines. TRAVEL It may require occasional travel to a different campus site, off-site work-related locations such as professional development events, or campus events.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a non-exempt, part-time position. It is an on-site position. Workdays and hours will vary based on the academic term and student needs. Typical hours align with class schedules and may include occasional evenings or weekends to support student availability. The standard work week is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
REQUIREMENTS

ACADEMIC, LICENSING AND PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate degree in Biology or a closely related discipline , including at least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in BIO-designated coursework from a regionally accredited institution, is required. Two (2) or more years of full-time equivalent teaching experience is preferred. Experience integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning is preferred, as is experience teaching through an Interactive Video Network (IVN) or comparable remote-delivery platform. No licensure requirements are associated with this position. Valley College will verify prior work experience, license, and education background.
