AFTER-SCHOOL TEACHER
(CHESS) Rasberry Chess Academy -
Montgomery, AL PAY:
Coaching (Ages 19+): Starting at $50 per class Junior Coaching (Ages 16-18): $35-$50 per class
SCHEDULE
Classes are held at Montgomery-area elementary and middle schools . Coaches typically teach one class per weekday afternoon (about 1 hour), scheduled between 2:30-5:00 PM , depending on school dismissal times. Coaches may work 1 to 5 days per week , depending on their availability and our scheduling needs .
POSITION DETAILS
Coaching (Ages 19+) Lead small-group chess classes using our structured curriculum. No teaching experience required, just solid people skills, basic chess knowledge, and the ability to manage a classroom.
Minimum Qualifications:
Age 19 or older (required by Alabama law to supervise children) Available at least one weekday afternoon Solid understanding of chess rules Reliable transportation to schools Able to pass a background check
Preferred:
Experience with children (e.g., tutoring, camp counseling) Intermediate or competitive chess experience Strong communication and public speaking/teaching ability Junior Coaching (Ages 16-18) Assist adult coaches during after-school chess classes. Help younger students during gameplay, support class flow, and gradually take on leadership roles.
Minimum Qualifications:
Have written parental consent (upon hiring) Basic chess knowledge Reliable transportation to schools Dependable, attentive, and confident working with younger children Willingness to learn and eagerness to take on new responsibilities to level up your coaching skills Parental consent and background check required
Preferred:
