In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the ranch while inspiring young riders to develop confidence and love for horses. The ranch consists of a variety of farm animals alongside our horses and ponies. Your energetic and positive attitude will help create a safe, engaging environment where children can learn foundational riding skills, enjoy outdoor activities, and build lasting memories. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on ranch work with teaching beginner horseback riding in a fun, supportive setting. Expectations This position is entirely outdoors and will require staff to be on their feet for the majority of the shift. Instructors will be teaching beginning lead line classes up to five classes per day to students ages 3-8. When classes are not in session instructors will assist with ranch hand duties including pony rides and cleaning animal enclosures Weekend availability required Responsibilities Assist with daily ranch chores including feeding, grooming, and caring for horses and other animals to ensure their health and safety Supervise and lead children on the pony ride activities. Provide clear instructions to beginner riders, during horseback riding lessons, guiding them through basic riding techniques and safety procedures fostering a fun and encouraging learning atmosphere Maintain the cleanliness and organization of riding areas, stables, petting zoo enclosures and equipment to promote safety and efficiency Monitor behavior management during lessons to ensure all children follow safety rules and exhibit respectful conduct Collaborate with team members to plan age-appropriate activities that promote physical activity, teamwork, and outdoor education Requirements Prior experience working with children in educational or recreational settings; experience in childcare or teaching physical education is highly valued. Knowledge of horse care, riding fundamentals, or previous ranch experience is required; training will be provided for our specific course curriculum Strong communication skills with the ability to teach basic riding techniques clearly and patiently Energetic attitude with a passion for outdoor activities, animals, and working with kids Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting, bending, walking on uneven terrain, and working outdoors in various weather conditions First aid and CPR Certifications and mandated reporter training certifications are desired but can be acquired during training. A live scan background check will be required Weekend availability required This paid position offers an enriching environment where you can make a positive impact on children's lives while enjoying the great outdoors.
