Part-time General Summary Under the supervision of the Learn to Skate Director, the Ice Centre Office Supervisor and a Learn to Skate Instructor, this position is responsible for assisting with the instruction of our Learn to Skate group lessons using the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for assisting the Learn to Skate Instructors with teaching the fundamentals of ice skating in a group setting to all ages and ability levels. Instruction must follow guidelines set by Learn to Skate USA. Aides are required to follow all rink protocols and may also be asked to help with set up and tear down of any items used for our lessons. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Must be able to figure skate on ice. Must have an understanding and knowledge of the Learn to Skate USA curriculum and be able to assist with demonstrating and provide effective exercises to assist the skaters with developing their skills for different skating levels. Work Environment/Physical Activities Must be able to work in cold temperatures and be familiar with an ice rink setting. Education/Experience Must be 14 years of age Some High School preferred May be asked to complete the Learn to Skate USA annual membership as well as any other certifications that are required annually through Learn to Skate USA or USFS. This job description may be amended from time to time and is established by Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District.
