Fishing Instructor City Of Largo Parks, Arts, & Recreation Largo, FL Job Details Contract 2 hours ago Qualifications Lifeguard Training Swimming Working with students Lifeguard experience Gym Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Fishing Instructor to inspire and educate participants of all ages in the art and science of fishing. In this role, you will lead engaging fishing sessions, teach safety protocols, and foster a love for outdoor recreation. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create memorable experiences while promoting responsible fishing practices. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your passion for fishing and outdoor activities with a diverse community of learners. Duties Lead instructional fishing sessions for groups and individual participants, tailoring techniques to different skill levels Teach safety procedures related to fishing, boating, and outdoor environments to ensure participant well-being Demonstrate proper casting, baiting, knot-tying, and fish handling techniques with clarity and patience Monitor participants' behavior to maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment Organize and supervise outdoor activities such as boat handling, casting competitions, or fish identification games Provide guidance on local fishing regulations, conservation practices, and ethical angling Maintain equipment, ensure safety gear is in good condition, and prepare necessary instructional materials Qualifications Prior experience as a fishing instructor or in outdoor sports coaching preferred Lifeguard experience or certification is advantageous due to safety responsibilities Experience working with children or youth in childcare or educational settings Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster positive group dynamics Familiarity with health club or gym environments is a plus for understanding fitness-related aspects of outdoor recreation Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct diverse audiences effectively Join us as a Fishing Instructor and become a vital part of our team dedicated to outdoor education!
