About Longleaf Adventure Camp Longleaf Adventure Camp is a small, outdoor-focused day camp in Apex, NC, that combines nature exploration, outdoor adventure, and hands-on learning. We believe children thrive when they have space to explore, create, take healthy risks, and build meaningful relationships. Our camp serves upper elementary and middle school-aged children with a maximum of 16 campers per session, allowing staff to build strong connections with every child. Position Summary We are seeking a Lead Educator who is passionate about children, outdoor learning, and creating memorable camp experiences. The Lead Educator serves as one of two primary educators and program leaders, guiding daily activities while fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Great candidates might include former classroom teachers, homeschool educators, outdoor educators, nature-school teachers, or experienced childcare professionals who enjoy hands-on learning and working in a small-team environment. Responsibilities Lead daily camp programming and activities Supervise campers and ensure their safety at all times Facilitate outdoor exploration, games, crafts, and learning experiences Build positive relationships with campers and families Manage daily camp routines and transitions Support children's social, emotional, and behavioral development Collaborate with camp counselors and assistant staff Communicate concerns, incidents, and successes with camp leadership Maintain a positive, energetic, and professional camp culture Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of camp materials Qualifications Preferred candidates will have the following: Teaching experience in a classroom, homeschool, camp, or educational setting Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to confidently manage groups of children Enthusiasm for outdoor learning and active play Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp begins) Physical Requirements Ability to spend significant time outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to walk, stand, and participate in active games and activities Ability to lift and carry camp supplies up to 25 pounds Compensation $25 per hour, approximately 30 hours per week Paid training provided Why Join Longleaf Adventure Camp?
