  • Educator is a seasonal summer position responsible for planning implementing marketing and leading a wide range of outdoor adventure trips and programs for youth ages 11
  • 17. Knowledge Skills and Abilities These job duties and responsibilities are representative. Specific duties may be assigned to others and/or added to meet the City's business and operational needs.
  • Plans all facets of trips including but not limited to planning, paperwork, driving, participant safety, camp set up, equipment management. food preparation, and overall leadership.
  • Plans and leads all pre-trip meetings.
  • Promotes and represents the Outdoor Adventures Program in a positive and professional manner.
  • Responsible for participants overall physical and emotional safety, health, and experience during trips and programs
  • Adhere to and teach the principles of Leave No Trace Ethics.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all outdoor equipment.
  • Punctual when reporting for duty.
  • Enforce and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
  • Provide proper emergency care (first aid/CPR) when necessary.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Age 21 or older and has graduated from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
Other combinations of education and experience that qualify an individual to perform the job duties and responsibilities may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Desire to expose students to the outdoors through activity and education.
  • Seeking proficiency in one or more of the following skills: Kayaking, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, and wilderness survival.
  • Desire to learn and grow as an outdoor leader.
  • Ability to work independently.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Wilderness first aid certification or the ability to obtain. Physical Requirements
  • Able to work outdoors and in adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat, precipitation, dust, mud, etc.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, use hands, listen/hear, climb/balance, stoop, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Able to traverse adverse terrain.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; 25 pounds on a daily basis.
