Chess Teacher TES Tutoring Center New York, NY Job Details Part-time From $20 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Working with children Working with students Working with 5th graders Elementary school teaching Associate's degree Critical thinking Full Job Description TES Tutoring Center located in Chinatown, Manhattan is seeking chess instructors to teach Chess lessons to students in grades K-5.
General Responsibilities of Chess Instructor:
Create a fun, and open atmosphere in which students can develop a love for critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Assess and determine individual students' chess levels Create a rigorous chess curriculum to help students who are on beginning/intermediate level(s) reach advanced levels. Teach chess checkmate patterns and tactics to individual and small group classes Manage classroom behavior. Ensure and maintain proper levels of discipline, welfare, and safety of all students in your classroom. Clean and tidy classroom after every class and prepare for the next class to enter the classroom Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration Must be able to work well with others Must have a passion for teaching and helping students succeed
Qualifications:
Associates and/or Bachelor's Degree 2 years of experience working with children ages 5-10 Tournament Experience is a plus.
