About Murray's Martial Arts Murray's Martial Arts has proudly served the Rochester community since 1981. We are more than a karate school — we are a leadership academy focused on helping students build confidence, discipline, focus, resilience, and respect through martial arts training. Our programs serve students ages 4 through adult, with a strong emphasis on age-appropriate instruction, positive coaching, structured classes, and community connection. We are passionate about creating an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to become the best version of themselves. We are currently seeking a dependable, high-energy martial arts instructor who is excited to become a long-term leader at our school. About the Role This is not simply an assistant instructor position. We are looking for someone who can confidently lead classes, connect with students and families, uphold high standards, and grow into a larger leadership role over time.
The ideal candidate is:
dependable and consistent positive and professional confident in leading groups of children and adults comfortable with technology and organization eager to grow as both an instructor and a leader This role will primarily teach beginner and novice karate classes, assist with student development, and teach adult fitness kickboxing classes throughout the week. Long-term, the right candidate may grow into responsibilities involving student enrollment, leadership development, staff support, operations management, and school management.
What You'll Do Class Instruction:
✔ Lead engaging martial arts classes for children, teens, and adults ✔ Teach beginner and novice karate curriculum with structure and energy ✔ Teach adult fitness kickboxing classes ✔ Help students improve confidence, focus, discipline, and technique ✔ Maintain a safe, organized, and motivating training environment
Student & Parent Experience:
✔ Build strong relationships with students and families ✔ Communicate professionally and positively with parents ✔ Help create a welcoming and encouraging culture inside the school ✔ Support student evaluations, onboarding, and retention efforts
Leadership & Operations:
✔ Learn and follow Murray's Martial Arts systems and SOPs ✔ Help maintain class attendance, organization, and facility presentation ✔ Assist with events, tournaments, seminars, and occasional Saturday programs ✔ Support administrative and operational tasks as responsibilities grow
Technology & Organization:
✔ Use Google Drive and organizational systems efficiently ✔ Utilize Canva and ChatGPT for basic communication and content support ✔ Stay organized, communicate proactively, and manage time effectively
Qualifications Required:
✔ Martial arts experience required ✔ Strong communication and leadership skills ✔ Experience working with children or groups ✔ Positive, professional, and coachable attitude ✔ Reliable transportation and dependable availability ✔ Comfortable using computers and modern technology ✔ Willingness to continue training weekly to sharpen personal skills ✔ Legal right to work in the
United States Preferred:
⭐ Black belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate ⭐ Experience teaching martial arts classes independently ⭐ Experience with fitness kickboxing or group fitness instruction ⭐ Customer service, sales, or leadership experience ⭐ Experience with Canva, Google Drive, and AI tools like ChatGPT Schedule Typical schedule includes:
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday:
approximately 3:00-7:00
PM Tuesday & Thursday:
approximately 3:00-8:00 PM Occasional Saturdays for events, tournaments, seminars, or special programs Expected hours: 18-25 hours per week to start, with potential for additional growth.
