Job Description

Overview •About the Club•It is the mission of the Shelter Island Municipal Golf Course, Inc., to preserve, maintain and manage the historic nine-hole public golf course, known affectionately as "Goat Hill," so it remains a vibrant centerpiece of Shelter Island living. It is our aim to continue Goat Hill's reputation of "pasture golf" at its finest and preserving the game of golf as it was meant to be played. To that end, the organization is committed to preserving the town-owned course as it was first designed in 1901 and to keeping it affordable for residents and visitors alike by returning all profits to club operations and course upkeep. In doing so, Goat Hill will remain a source of pride for the town and a symbol of the island's rich history, and will continue to be a center for social, recreational and educational activities, now and into the future.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Golf Teaching Professional to join our team and enhance the instructional programs at Shelter Island Country Club. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching players of all skill levels, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing an exceptional golf experience. This individual will play a key role in delivering private lessons, group clinics, junior programs, and member engagement activities. Experience Required - PGA or LPGA Member (or Associate working toward full membership). Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching golf in a professional setting. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Familiarity with technology is preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Passion for the game of golf and ongoing professional development.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and teach outdoors for extended periods. Able to lift golf bags, teaching aids, and equipment as needed. Essential Responsibilities - Conduct individual and group golf instruction for players of all ages and abilities. Develop and implement instructional programs, including Thursday morning junior golf, clinics, camps, and coaching sessions. Assist with club-sponsored events and member engagement initiatives. Utilize video analysis, launch monitors, and other modern teaching tools to enhance the student experience. Maintain accurate lesson scheduling and records. Support the Club in its overall golf operation needs. Promote and sell lesson packages and club programs to increase participation. Represent the club positively and professionally both on and off the course. Assist in the evaluation and fitting of golf equipment when necessary. Ensure safe and effective teaching practices in all lessons and programs. Benefits
