SKATEBOARDING COUNSELOR
•SUMMER 2026 Do you love skateboarding, working with kids, and staying active all summer long? Long Lake Camp Adventures is searching for an energetic and experienced Skateboarding Counselor to join our staff for Summer 2026 in the stunning Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. This is a unique opportunity to spend your summer teaching skateboarding, mentoring campers, living in a beautiful place, and becoming part of an adventurous and incredibly close camp community.
ABOUT LONG LAKE CAMP ADVENTURES
Long Lake Camp Adventures is an overnight summer camp for campers ages 7-16 focused on creativity, adventure, and choice. Every camper builds their own daily schedule from a huge variety of activities including skateboarding, high ropes, climbing, paintball, automotive, woodworking, hiking, waterfront activities, sports, gardening, and much more. No two days are the same at Long Lake.
ABOUT THE SKATEBOARDING PROGRAM
Our skateboarding program is designed to be fun, active, beginner-friendly, and confidence-building. We are looking for someone who can teach campers how to skate safely, help more experienced campers improve their skills, and create an exciting environment where kids feel encouraged to try. Campers may be brand new to skateboarding or already comfortable on a board, so we need someone who can work with all ability levels.
Activities may include:
Beginner skateboarding instruction Balance and board control Turning, stopping, and safety basics Flat ground tricks Ramp and park-style instruction Skate games and challenges Equipment care and safety checks Building confidence through progression
YOUR ROLE
This is NOT a job where you repeat the same thing all day long. Part of your day will be spent teaching and supervising skateboarding. The other part will be spent living and working with campers alongside your co-counselors.
You will:
Teach and supervise skateboarding activities Encourage campers of all skill levels Help campers progress safely and confidently Maintain a fun, positive, and safe skate environment Live in a cabin with campers Escort campers to meals and activities Participate in evening programs and trips Help create an exciting and supportive camp environment At Long Lake, staff often cross-train in different areas. Depending on your interests and skills, you may also receive training in: High ropes Climbing wall Waterfront activities CPR and wilderness safety Other adventure programming
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who: Has real skateboarding experience Is comfortable teaching beginners Loves working with kids Brings high energy and positivity Is adaptable and team-oriented Can work long and demanding days Wants to be part of an active camp community Is excited to mentor and inspire campers
IMPORTANT
At this point we are primarily hiring American staff or applicants who already possess a valid US working visa.
THE REALITY OF CAMP
Camp is not a vacation. The hours are long. The work is exhausting. Campers can be difficult. Living with coworkers all summer can sometimes be frustrating. But by the end of the summer, you will have made incredible friendships, impacted kids' lives, and created memories you will never forget.
