Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM•4:15 PM (35 hours/week) About Red Oak Camp Red Oak Camp helps campers build confidence, independence, and leadership through outdoor adventure. Our programs emphasize hands-on learning, teamwork, and meaningful experiences in nature. Job Overview We are hiring Waterfront Instructors to lead activities at our lakefront. This role can be focused on: Canoeing & Kayaking , Fishing , OR both (ideal, but not required) If you're confident in either area, we want to hear from you. You'll teach skills, lead activities, and help campers feel comfortable and confident on the water—while also serving as a positive mentor throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Lead canoeing/kayaking and/or fishing activities based on your strengths Teach basic to intermediate skills in a fun, engaging way Ensure safe waterfront operations at all times Help campers build confidence, independence, and teamwork Supervise and mentor a group of campers throughout the day Support transitions and collaborate with other program areas Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Experience in canoeing/kayaking OR fishing (both is a plus) Comfortable leading groups of children outdoors Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to maintain awareness and safety in a waterfront setting Preferred (not required): Lifeguard certification Boating/waterfront certifications Previous camp or youth experience Why Join Red Oak Camp?
