Job Description
Camp TeacherToledo Zoo & Aquarium The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Come and be a part of an organization where you can work and have fun at the same time! Our Education department is currently seeking a part-time Camp Teacher who is passionate about learning new things and giving our guests the best possible experience. This position is responsible for preparing daily camp sessions, leading the education aspects of our camp and ensuring all children can participate. They will also direct teen volunteers in tasks to assist with the program and communicate camp policies, issues, comments to the appropriate party. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a camp or classroom setting. In addition, strong customer service and communication skills are necessary. This position reports to the Education Manager and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Minimum Training & Experience Must be 18+ years of age or older.
Must have the physical ability to work on your feet and be able to walk the Zoo grounds for several hours at a time. Preferred to have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
Work schedules include weekdays, weekends, and can include holidays. Applicants who have obtained or are pursuing a degree in the education or biological science fields are preferred. Pre-employment screening and background check are required.
