Job Summary:
Required:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the requested course field
Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience
Summary:
The adjunct instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work. The adjunct instructor will maintain collect standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the college.
Duties Include:
  • Instructs students in assigned subject matter in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate
  • Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate
  • Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance and academic progress
  • Recognizes individual differences in the classroom and adapts instructional techniques accordingly
  • Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed
  • Represents the Continuing Education Department and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner
  • Responsible for departmental equipment and provides the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • If assigned, this position may require administrative work on grant-funded program activities and reporting
