Summer Camp Director Revival Center of Pittsburgh Summer Camp Seasonal Position | July 6, 2026 - August 14, 2026 Training & Orientation | June 2026
Location:
Revival Center of Pittsburgh Position Summary The Summer Camp Director is responsible for planning, leading, and overseeing all aspects of the Revival Center of Pittsburgh Summer Camp. This role provides leadership for daily camp operations, staff supervision, camper engagement, STEAM and enrichment programming, field trips, and special events. The Camp Director will create a safe, organized, highly engaging, and enriching environment where campers can learn, grow, build relationships, develop new skills, and create lasting memories. The ideal candidate is an energetic and experienced leader who is passionate about youth development, hands-on learning, creativity, and fostering a positive camp culture. Camp Overview The Revival Center of Pittsburgh Summer Camp provides children with a dynamic summer experience that combines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Hands-on learning projects and experiments Creative arts and design activities Theater, drama, and performance-based experiences Educational enrichment opportunities Leadership and team-building activities Outdoor recreation and games Field trips and community experiences Social and emotional learning Fun, interactive, and memorable summer experiences The Camp Director will ensure all programming is engaging, age-appropriate, well-organized, and designed to create an exceptional camper experience. Essential Responsibilities Camp Leadership & Operations Oversee all daily camp operations and activities. Ensure a safe, organized, and positive environment for campers and staff. Manage camp schedules, activity rotations, field trips, special events, and daily transitions. Coordinate camper attendance, incident reports, emergency procedures, and required documentation. Ensure camp policies, procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed. Manage camp supplies, materials, equipment, and activity resources. Prepare and maintain camp spaces to support daily programming. Serve as the primary on-site leader during camp operations. Staff Supervision & Development Supervise camp counselors, instructors, interns, and volunteers. Lead staff orientation, training, and ongoing professional development. Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate expectations clearly. Provide coaching, support, accountability, and performance feedback. Foster a collaborative, positive, and solution-focused team culture. Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all activities and events. Model professionalism, flexibility, leadership, and teamwork. STEAM, Arts & Enrichment Programming Coordinate and oversee engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning experiences throughout the summer. Support instructors and staff in delivering hands-on projects, experiments, challenges, and creative activities that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. Coordinate theater and performing arts experiences that encourage confidence, communication, teamwork, creativity, and self-expression. Organize age-appropriate theater activities such as skits, storytelling, improvisation, dramatic performances, talent showcases, reader's theater, and end-of-camp presentations. Develop themed weeks, special projects, and enrichment experiences that integrate STEAM concepts with arts, culture, and creativity. Coordinate guest presenters, workshops, demonstrations, and special events that enhance the camper experience. Ensure activities are inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and accessible to campers with varying interests, abilities, and learning styles. Field Trip Coordination Plan, organize, and oversee camp field trips and off-site experiences. Coordinate transportation logistics, permissions, and safety procedures. Ensure appropriate staff-to-camper supervision ratios during trips. Serve as the lead coordinator during field trips and special outings. Manage all field trip documentation and communication with families. Camper Experience & Family Engagement Create an exciting, high-energy environment where campers are eager to participate each day. Build positive relationships with campers and their families. Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding camp activities and updates. Address camper behavioral concerns appropriately and professionally. Ensure every camper feels welcomed, included, supported, and encouraged. Foster teamwork, creativity, friendship-building, and personal growth among campers. Create memorable experiences that encourage campers to discover new interests and build confidence. Qualifications Required Minimum age of 21 years old. Experience working with children in camps, schools, youth programs, recreation programs, or similar settings. Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to lead and motivate staff and volunteers. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Preferred Master's degree in Education preferred Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, Child Development, Youth Development, Arts Education, or a related field. Previous experience directing or coordinating summer camps, after-school programs, or youth enrichment programs. Experience with STEAM education, arts programming, theater, or project-based learning. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to camp). Experience coordinating field trips, special events, or enrichment programming. Physical Requirements Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor camp activities. Ability to supervise children throughout the day. Ability to lift, carry, and move camp materials and equipment as needed. Ability to remain active and engaged for extended periods. Ability to travel and participate in field trips and off-site activities.
Schedule Camp Dates:
July 6, 2026 - August 14, 2026 tentatively The Summer Camp Director must be available for: Pre-camp planning and staff training All camp operating days and hours Field trips and special events Parent meetings and camp-related communications as needed The Summer Camp Director plays a critical role in creating a fun, engaging, educational, and memorable summer experience that positively impacts the lives of children and families throughout the community.
