Job Description
Job Summary:
The K-8 Student Club Instructor provides hands-on, activity-based enrichment and instruction to students enrolled in a STEAM and literacy-centered after-school program and summer camp. Responsibilities include planning and implementing lessons that support and encourage creativity, wellness, and life skill development in a state-of-the-art, high-quality center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, implement, and document instruction in area of expertise for students enrolled in the K-8 Program. Lessons are conducted on scheduled days between 4 ? 6 pm. Instructor is paid for teaching time, set up time (if needed), and lesson planning time. Supports students in creating finished products to demonstrate learning. Responsibly use classroom and materials while in class and clean up after class. Effectively manage students and utilize K-8 Program dismissal procedures. Support the K-8 Program Manager in coordinating student culminating events. Participate in required professional development programs, staff meetings and parent meetings. Minimum Experience:
High school diploma. Experience in area of expertise. 2 years of childcare experience.Preferred Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience. Experience lesson planning. Experience working within and uplifting communities directly affected by systemic racism. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Core Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing; comfortable presenting to and engaging groups of people, particularly elementary-aged children. Excellent organization and planning skills. Strong ability to build relationships. Ability to work independently. Requirements forHire:
Clearances:
FBI Criminal History, PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse, National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) Verification. These requirements are mandated by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) before working with children and do not include all Project HOME requirements.Physical requirements:
Active work involved in the care of children. includes walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, and driving (if applicable). Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must be able to walk short distances (1 mile or less).
