Job Description

Position Overview:
Little Forest Equestrian is seeking a passionate, reliable, and experienced horseback riding instructor to join our team on a part-time, contracted basis. We are looking for someone who can work Saturdays and help with Summer Camps. The instructor will be responsible for teaching private horseback riding lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on safety, horsemanship, and riding technique. This role offers flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to work in a supportive, horse-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach beginner to intermediate horseback riding lessons (English, Western, or both—depending on experience) Create lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and skill progression Ensure the safety of riders and horses at all times Assist with horse preparation (tacking/untacking) and educate students in horsemanship and stable safety Communicate with students and/or parents about goals, progress, and scheduling Monitor and maintain lesson area cleanliness and order Report any injuries, behavioral issues, or equipment concerns to management
Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching horseback riding lessons Must have previously taken horseback riding lessons Strong foundation in horsemanship and horse care Patient, positive, and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills Must be at least 18 years of age Background check may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching youth riders Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Familiarity with barn chores and horse handling
Schedule & Compensation:
Flexible schedule (weekday afternoons, evenings, or weekends preferred) Pay is hourly This is an independent contractor role; no benefits are provided
