Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Summer Climbing Program Director to lead our indoor/outdoor climbing activities and ensure a safe, engaging, and inspiring experience for all participants. In this role, you will oversee the planning, organization, and execution of our summer climbing program, fostering a fun and inclusive environment that encourages skill development, teamwork, and confidence. Your leadership will inspire young climbers to reach new heights while maintaining safety standards and promoting positive behavior. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for climbing, sports coaching, and youth development in a dynamic outdoor setting. Housing and meals provided. Contract runs June 28-August 2. Responsibilities Direct and run camp climbing program, primarily teaching Climbing Merit Badge to small classes (3 classes per day, each with 2-8 youth Supervise daily climbing activities, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed Lead engaging coaching sessions that incorporate teaching climbing techniques, knot tying, belaying, and risk management Foster a positive environment through effective behavior management and encouragement Coordinate with other activity staff to integrate climbing into broader camp programming Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure safety standards are upheld Train Assistant Climbing Instructor in general and site-specific practices, from provided manuals and Council Climbing Supervisor Experience Prior experience in sports coaching or teaching physical education, preferably with children or youth groups Lifeguard experience is a plus, demonstrating strong safety awareness and emergency response skills Background in climbing or outdoor adventure programs; certifications in climbing instruction or belaying preferred Knowledge of martial arts such as Karate or Judo is advantageous for understanding discipline and focus training Experience working with children in childcare settings or educational environments Familiarity with behavior management techniques to promote respectful and cooperative behavior among participants Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young people in a team setting Join us as the Summer Climbing Program Director to create memorable outdoor experiences that build confidence, promote healthy activity, and develop lifelong skills. Pay:
$1,800.00 - $2,200.00 per month
