Job Description

Job Overview The Lakers Hockey Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Hockey Director for the 2026/2027 fall season. We are in the process of rebuilding our program following several seasons with large graduating classes and are looking for a leader who is passionate about player development, team culture, and growing a successful high school hockey program.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all hockey operations for the program Support player development and team advancement Assist with coach mentorship and program growth Foster a positive, competitive, and team-first culture Work collaboratively with the
Board of Directors Requirements:
USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certification (CEP) or higher Current SafeSport Certification Completion of all required Age-Specific Modules Previous coaching experience at the Midget level Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills If you are interested in helping shape the future of our program and making a positive impact on student-athletes, we would love to hear from you. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive hockey training curricula tailored to various age groups and skill levels Lead coaching staff by providing guidance, mentorship, and ongoing professional development Organize team practices, games, tournaments, and special events to maximize participation and enjoyment Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive behavior among players through effective behavior management strategies Collaborate with facility staff to ensure all equipment is maintained and safety protocols are strictly followed Foster relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners to support program growth and engagement Incorporate additional physical activities such as skating drills, martial arts (e.g., Judo or Karate), or climbing exercises to enhance overall athleticism Experience Prior experience in sports coaching or program management within hockey or similar team sports Lifeguard experience or background in swimming, martial arts (such as Karate or Judo), or climbing is advantageous for integrating diverse physical activities Demonstrated ability working with children or students in educational or recreational settings Knowledge of behavior management techniques to promote discipline and positive conduct on and off the ice Familiarity with health club or gym environments to incorporate fitness components into training sessions Strong teaching skills with a focus on physical education, sports fundamentals, and skill progression Certifications in coaching, first aid/CPR are preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected Join us to lead vibrant hockey programs that inspire young athletes to develop their skills while having fun!
