Job Description

Position Description The successful candidate will teach primarily in the on campus BSW program and as needed in the fully online MSW program in the Social Work Department. The position will include teaching social work courses in areas such as HBSE, policy, research, and practice with an opportunity to develop and teach elective social work courses in an area of expertise. The BSW program is offered at our St. David's campus. Eastern University is known for its emphasis on faith, reason, and justice. The Department of Social Work embodies this mission whole-heartedly. Position Responsibilities Teach courses assigned in a30-credit load. Assist in the development of course curriculum. Assist with coordinating placements within the internship program. Advise BSW students. Participate in the admissions and interview process for future students. Help develop the academic, social and spiritual dimensions of students. Pursue a scholarly agenda of inquiry, presentation, and publication. Uphold the vision of the Social Work Department. Supports the continuous development of the Social Work Department. Honor the NASW Code of Ethics. Maintain compliance with CSWE accreditation standards. Qualifications MSW from a CSWE accredited program. Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience. Thorough knowledge of the CSWE competencies. Commitment to and record of excellence in teaching. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Record of effective, collaborative engagement and teamwork. Embodiment of the values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmation. Supplemental Information The Social Work Department has five full-time faculty. The BSW program has been accredited by CSWE since 1974 and MSW program is also fully accredited by CSWE. The Social Work Department at Eastern University educates and prepares students to be competent advanced generalist (MSW) social work practitioners who are knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate representatives of God's mercy and justice in meeting common human needs with particular attention to vulnerable and oppressed populations and communities.
