Anticipated starting salary is $59,008 - $63,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with theMCCC/MTA

NSCC seeks a full-time, tenure-track Sociology Faculty. The successful candidate will teach first- and second-year sociology courses, which may also include Early College courses at partner high schools depending on the divisional needs. Teaching assignments will primarily include Introduction to Sociology and other courses in these same subject areas, depending on the candidate's expertise.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, committed to teaching and supporting students with diverse backgrounds, needs, and academic preparedness. All faculty play a leadership role in advancing NSCC's mission to provide high-quality education while also strengthening Early College pathways that prepare high school students for college success and career readiness. We seek a dedicated colleague and a student learner-centered educator who can inspire students, challenging them to think creatively, and engage critically with their field of study. Reflecting the diversity of our student body, the ideal candidate will approach all of their courses with a global and inclusive perspective. The candidate will also be pedagogically minded and demonstrate a commitment to continuing that engagement through active learning about the profession, tools, and skills of teaching.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach a full-time schedule of sociology courses at NSCC's Lynn and/or Danvers campuses as well as at Early College partner high schools. The FT teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester. Prepare syllabi, develop and update curricula, and align courses with student learning outcomes and General Education competencies. Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and the candidate's discipline. Ongoing commitment to creative work/research in the profession or the discipline of teaching is expected and active participation with faculty, department and college service is required. Serve as academic advisor to students. Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week during fall and spring semesters. Participate in curriculum development and program review within the Behavioral Sciences Department. Engage in College service, governance, and committee work as consistent with the collective bargaining agreement. Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes. Use technology effectively to teach, advise, and communicate with students. Perform additional duties as assigned, consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Dean of Liberal StudiesRequirements:
Master's degree in sociology by the time of appointment OR a Master's degree in a closely related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate courses in sociology. At least one year of college level teaching, which may include TA experience. A commitment to life-long learning in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to communicate information in an accessible and engaging manner. The ability to teach culturally inclusive classes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS
PhD in Sociology acquired by the time of appointment. Experience working with people from historically underrepresented and underserved communities. Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technology. Fluency in SpanishAdditional Information:
