Adjunct Instructor, Sociology

The Department of Sociology at Molloy University invites applications from candidates interested in teaching for the department during the 2025-2026 academic year. Courses that may need coverage in future semesters include

SOC 1010

(Introduction to Sociology) and

SOC 3000

Candidates must have:

A master's degree or higher in Sociology or related discipline A history of at least two years of successful teaching experience at the college level or equivalent.

The adjunct faculty members are responsible for: Preparing and delivering face-to-face instruction to undergraduate students in cooperation with the department's Chairperson and other faculty; Using a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning and encourage active learning in all students. Promptly assessing students' coursework and appraising students of progress; Meeting with students before or after class if they need to attend to their course related questions. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to relate well to a diverse population of community learners.

Salary Information:

When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as discipline specific knowledge, skills, education and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring salary for this position is $1,175.00 per credit (Undergraduate Instructor) to $1,330.00 per credit (Graduate Assistant Professor). This hiring salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
