Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Travel Special Education Teacher (K-12) Anchorage, Alaska Education Industry Position Position Overview Soliant Education is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for full-time onsite positions in Anchorage, Alaska for the 2026-2027 school year with an August 2026 start date. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work in a supportive educational setting while experiencing one of the most scenic regions in the United States. Educators who are interested in a year-long assignment away from home may also qualify for travel stipend packages, including tax-free compensation options for eligible candidates with qualifying dual living expenses. Assignment Details These are onsite-only teaching positions working 37.5 hours per week throughout the school year. Multiple openings are available across various grade levels from kindergarten through 12th grade, with placements in resource classrooms as well as specialized instructional programs. Typical caseloads range from approximately 20-25 students in resource settings, while special program classrooms generally support smaller groups of 10-12 students to allow for individualized instruction and student support. Responsibilities The Special Education Teacher will provide direct instructional services and develop learning strategies that align with each student's individualized education plan. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with classroom teachers, service providers, school staff, and families to help students achieve academic and behavioral goals. The educator will also maintain accurate documentation, participate in IEP meetings, monitor student progress, and create a positive learning environment that supports student growth and inclusion. Qualifications Candidates must hold active Alaska certification and appropriate state licensure in Special Education prior to the start of the assignment. Previous experience working with school-aged students in special education settings is strongly preferred, particularly in resource or self-contained classrooms. Applicants should demonstrate strong communication skills, classroom management abilities, and the capacity to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs. Compensation and Benefits Hourly compensation for this position ranges from $35.50 to $48.50 based on experience, credentials, and assignment details. Eligible travelers may also receive tax-free housing and meal stipends when maintaining qualifying living expenses in another state, and additional details can be discussed directly with the recruiter.
